In this day and age, we want as many pieces of media to be worth watching, so we invest heavily in creating content that is appealing and engaging. We also like to consume content we find on Instagram more frequently than any other platform. However, with all of the good content there’s always a lack of good photos. The problem lies in our own perception when it comes to what constitutes “quality”. For some photography isn’t judged by whether we have great shots or not; rather, it is judged based on how well a photographer has chosen the composition. As photographers I think about all the times when I’ve fallen victim to this. So, here are my tips on making better photos.

- Begin each photoshoot with one thing you know to be true, no matter what you have in mind. One thing sets you apart from all the other people and tells your story. This can come from an incident, someone who inspires you, a place you are familiar with, or a dream that involves something new. Having something to focus on before shooting helps me stay focused on whatever I’m working on. Don’t get ahead of yourself in thinking you know your subject, they don’t have your exact same experience. Just because you were born in London, doesn’t mean that you want to make out with a British couple at Pride Of Britain. Remember that you are a creative person who likes to experiment with different techniques of production. Have something completely fresh, unique, or out of your ordinary existence. Your project is only going to become better if you start with something important to you and believe in it. You will make a stronger bond and emotional attachment with your project because when I make art that is out of my typical experiences, it really is something special to me. The process is a process of becoming comfortable with that which was previously unknown, or uncomfortable.
- Set an ambiance for success. Whether it is your surroundings, food, mood, music, or even your outfit, everything connects to success. Start with something that makes you feel relaxed and confident, then move on to something that gets you pumped up but leaves you feeling lighthearted. What do you put into your space? Something natural, a plant, candles, candles, plants or flowers, candles, cactus, crystals, sand, water, candles, candles, candles, candles, candles, candles, candles, candles, or even tea or coffee. It might sound silly, but being able to create life without using artificial colors or sounds actually enhances your mood and creates a sense of calmness and joy. Also, having the ability to create a home in nature helps you look at things differently. Not everyone wants to create their own world, but it works in others and helps them feel connected to places around the world.
- Choose your camera lens by using your eyes. If you’re looking at one shot, maybe take a few test pictures of a landscape, the scene, a friend or relative you want to introduce in your photograph, etc. Then just wait until later to choose your lens. Nowadays we use interchangeable lenses. By choosing an interchangeable lens, you’ll be able to look at hundreds of different angles during your whole shoot and see what you like best. It lets you change lenses to capture different types of shots and edit them. When deciding between lenses, consider what will work best for your projects, especially when editing your images. While this may seem overwhelming at first, I’ve found that it’s easier than you think when trying to select the right lens for your specific project. Once you’ve decided on a lens that suits your style and budget, it’s time to take the test shot! You have the option to create an online gallery of samples and have them displayed for you on your phone for reference. Lookup a few samples to see if one is perfect for your needs or if there is anything similar that you haven’t seen. Next, go to your photo editor app and click on the picture. There are several options available, including traditional color grading, film grain, soft-light, bright lights, night mode. You might need a few different images in various lighting conditions to match your shooting purposes. After you’ve created a sample, you’ll have to edit your pictures manually. Every image has its own flaws, details, and patterns that determine why they don’t do as great as yours do; hence, your goal is to find that perfect shot. Most modern photo editors allow you to adjust the settings in real-time. This means that you can view your final product immediately after you complete each task, giving you peace of mind that no edits are made. With these tools, you won’t have to worry about perfection, or wondering how your picture is doing. Editing your images also allows you to share your creativity with others.
- Take advantage of free stock photos. A common misconception is to treat every shot as if it came straight out of a professional photographer’s bag. My advice is to focus on the parts of your story that you enjoy, but don’t necessarily get most of the attention while shooting a standard image. Instead, focus on your favorite areas and add a nice, personal touch to them. An example of this would be a portrait of your friends. Rather than focusing on the entire silhouette of a body, add someone from your friend’s group. Even though they are standing, the person might have interesting features. As a result of taking pictures this way, your audience will pay more attention to the details of each person and what you’re going through. These photos show off your strengths to potential clients and help you promote your business at ease. Plus, you can even edit the photos yourself in Photoshop to make them look better than ever. It really does take some artistic skill but I hope you see that there are plenty of reasons for including a few extras or extra features. From a practical perspective, knowing the rules of your craft can ensure that you don’t waste anything of your valuable time. When it comes to social media, take advantage of the latest trends to enhance your profile. Use hashtags, links, and pictures to improve your profile image. Take advantage of any images that are already posted and include them in your post. Do your homework on search engine optimization (SEO) to better engage your followers. Be sure to write clear headlines and descriptions to make it easier for readers to read and understand what you’re about. Lastly, leave a positive review for followers to give them confidence in working with you or writing a word of advice for future projects.
- Don’t forget to edit. If you put too much pressure on editing your images, you might lose sight of their beauty in their imperfections. You don’t want your brand to fall behind in capturing the attention of that which matters most to your customers—your reputation. All of this is possible if you learn the techniques of editing well. Learning to edit requires several steps and patience with the help of experienced professionals with years of experience. Some of the best experts will provide feedback and guide you as you take care of individual tasks, such as blemishes, wrinkles, fine lines, and general issues. You can also try out different apps and apps that can edit your images to make them stand out. You should look at all of your shots to decide which ones need some editing. Here are a few popular options, Adobe PhotoShop and Lightroom, for both Macs and Windows. Both are very easy to navigate, allow for fast editing, and deliver beautiful images. However, they both feature slightly different styles. On a mac, Lightroom focuses more on speed and precision while Adobe Photoshop looks for greater detail and overall quality. Although they focus on similar principles, there are slight differences. For instance, while Lightroom is designed for beginners users, Adobe has more advanced tutorials and step-by-step guides that explain every step of the process with visual examples. Another difference would be with Adobe, Adobe offers cross-platform editing tools to accommodate Linux users and allows more customization options for those who prefer operating systems from Google. Adobe offers access to its suite of tools and services to enable editing for beginners to expert users, whereas Lightroom lets anyone tweak images with basic editing capabilities, but still gives users the freedom to create their own filters and effects.
- Invest in high-quality photo prints, and then offer them on a discount basis for the next sale. You don’t have to buy new prints every time you need a photo. That’s why it’s a wise idea to have your old prints returned as quickly as possible. Give others something to look at and use them as a reminder of what was once there. Keep it simple: offering prints on sale can save you money and effort from getting new, new images. Especially for those who are tired of dealing with paper, this can be a very helpful gift for them. High-quality printing isn’t only a luxury item for serious creatives, but it is something someone would love to own. Whether it’s for family photos, birthday cards, wedding plans, or your mom’s birthday, high-quality print can help make the most of every moment. You’d be surprised at how your mood changes when you have a great print that’s hung up somewhere. They can be used as wall frames, window treatments, wall decals, posters, or even furniture covers. But it really should be noted that you shouldn’t have to go to an expensive boutique to afford these products or find your own store to purchase the items yourself for whatever purpose you choose to give them. Consider giving them away for less important occasions to
